The Big Sit! 2026: 10–11 October 2026. Organised by New Haven Bird Club.
A birding challenge that began in 1992: participants try to identify as many species as possible in one day without leaving a circle 17 feet (about 5 metres) across.

How to take part
- Pick a spot with a good view and mark out a circle 17 feet (5.2 m) across.
- Count every species you can see or hear from inside the circle during the event day.

Taking part is free, according to New Haven Bird Club.
